THIS WEEK: Last year's Marseille final was between Thomas Enqvist and Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Enqvist thrashing him 6-4 6-1. Enqvist did not defend his title, loses 28 points, but stays fourth. Kafelnikov lost in the second round this time, but moves back into the SRI Rankings top 10. The winner is Frenchman Fabrice Santoro (up from 75 to 62, ATP #59 -> #38).

One to watch in the lower reaches is Hamburg Challenger winner Vladimir Voltchkov. He has risen from 92 to 71, despite an ATP ranking of #131 (up from #155).
